“Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
There’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.”
Lyrics by Yip Harburg
As a tiny tot, Somewhere Over The Rainbow was my invisible playmate. When childhood bullies picked on me, or growing pains became too much, I would sing and imagine impossibly wonderful things happening everywhere so that people were happy again, without any need to do things that were not happy.
Each night before bed I would open my bedroom window, peek my little head outside and sing at the top of my lungs to the whole world, believing the happiness and magic of the song would activate happy hearts across the globe.
With visions of people taking flight over the rainbow, as bluebirds do, I would go to sleep quite pleased with my day, feeling I had done my part to remind friends everywhere just how miraculous they really are… and every day got better.
Singing is just one magical key living inside that you can activate any time to uplift yourself and your world. Sing, hum; use your voice for beautiful things, and you will be in the right space for your happiest dreams to come true.
